NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents,
Saturday’s Harvest Fest and Trunk or Treat was another fantastic evening of fun and community-building as we continue to celebrate our 20th anniversary. The costumes were exceptionally creative, and the lip sync competition and band were AMAZING! This annual event is made possible only by diligent, selfless effort from all our parent and student volunteers. Thank you to everyone who put in time and monitored the various stations of the festive grounds. The children and parents were giddy with excitement! Special thanks to our PTO, led by President Erica Seidel. This incredible team worked tireless hours planning and organizing the event for the sheer joy of building school community. And there are many others who donated time and services to make this event possible:
Helluva Brewing Company donated all of the beer
Goldcrown Promotions donated Trunk or Treat bags for children
Vertuccio Farms provided pumpkins and hay bales
Bounce Then Slide provided inflatables
Meyer Family donated all of the wine
Ellsberry Family donated $100
Ainsworth Family donated $100
PTO Families spent several hours to set up and clean up
Krissy Bileski arranged all of the food trucks, inflatables, and setup/cleanup
Yesterday our school grounds were once again electric with excitement, laughter, fun, and games with classroom parties and the preschool/kindergarten costume parade. It was wonderful to see so many parents helping, playing, and enjoying fun, fall festivities. I even saw some 5th-grade moms playing tag on the field! The best part of the day, however, was watching the 8th graders cheer on our “little ones” as they paraded around our campus. Today is the official end of the 1st trimester and, as you know, Parent-Teacher Conferences are next week (see schedule below). If your plans change and you find you must change your conference time after signing up—no problem, we understand! Kindly notify the teacher so he/she may open up your time slot for another parent. The teachers will truly appreciate your courtesy.

Finally, we will be attending our last all-school Mass in the current St. Benedict Church building on Monday, November 1 at 9:00 AM in celebration of All Saints Day. Starting Friday, November 5 at 8:15AM, we will begin celebrating our all-school Masses in the MPR while the church is under renovation. Thank you to the parents and junior high students who have already signed up to help Mr. Daniel set up for Mass every Friday morning in the MPR. Nurse's Notes
- I want to thank everyone for the generous donations to the health office. I am all set with adult masks for now, but in need of kids' masks. We go through at least a box of 50 kids' masks per day!
- Please remember that attendance is handled in the nurse's office. You may send an email to attendance@sjbosco.org or call (480) 219-4848 ext. 5102, if your child will be absent or tardy.
- Our COVID-19 mitigation strategies continue to be successful as you can see by the numbers below. Thank you for your continued diligence.
Basket Winners
Congratulations to the following lucky winners of this year's Harvest Fest baskets! May you enjoy many hours of fun and entertainment.
If you haven’t had a chance to stop by our campus chapel, the Dia de los Muertos altar will be displayed for one more week—through Nov. 5th. Spanish teacher extraordinaire Senora Johana Bautista has masterminded a beautiful traditional “ofrenda” displaying students’ unique hand-made replica icons and photos of their deceased loved ones. This is more than a Spanish language program at SJB; it is a full-immersion, cultural experience.
Scholastic Book Fair Next Week
St. John Bosco will celebrate the power of reading at Scholastic Book Fair all next week! You are invited to help our school create a culture of reading, build our school library, and shop for books with your child for your home library. A portion of all proceeds will go back to our school – your support makes a difference.

Family Rosary Pouch
The entire month of October is dedicated to the Mother of God under the advocation of Our Lady of the Rosary. As such, we thought October would be a great time to begin sending home the "Family Rosary Pouch."
The Rosary pouch contains Rosary beads, a guide to pray the Rosary, and a prayer intention book.
Take some quiet time as a family to pray the Rosary nightly and consider the prayer intention you wrote in the prayer intention book. Finding time to pray the full Rosary can be challenging initially, but it only takes 20-30 minutes. Pray one decade a night, if necessary.
If you say the Holy Rosary every day with a spirit of faith and love, Our Lady will lead you far along her Son’s path.
Please return the Rosary pouch after one week so it may be shared with the next family. 😇

Girls on the Run
Girls in grades 3 – 5 are invited to an amazing after-school program that teaches important life lessons and skills while incorporating physical activity.
Despite the name, girls nor coaches need not be runners! All are encouraged to find a comfortable pace and type of movement, whether running, jogging, walking, or skipping. Visit https://www.gotrmc.org for more details. The GOTR season begins in February 2022.

Running With Rosco
SJB is holding its annual Running with Rosco fun run fundraiser on Wednesday, November 24. We will kick off the morning with a pep rally featuring the Phoenix Suns Gorilla and our own Rosco the Bulldog! Students, faculty, and parents will then be invited to run laps by grade with Rosco.
Every student and faculty member will receive a free Running with Rosco T-shirt to wear on the event day and may also be worn on Wednesday spirit days throughout the school year. Please submit your T-shirt order via our Order Form no later than Friday, November 5th.
Please help us reach our goal and become a Running with Rosco sponsor! We are currently looking for sponsors for this annual event to offset the cost of the T-shirts and raise funds for our school. Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Church Building
All are invited to the St. Benedict Catholic Church Groundbreaking Ceremony on Saturday, November 6 at 10 am on the church property. St. John Bosco students are encouraged to wear their Mass uniform to show their school spirit.
